Framing for Charity - Pindari

Pindari Homeless Women's Service

Framing for Charity Project 2011

Early in 2011 we were approached by Pindari Homeless Women's Service to frame an artwork for their reception area.  Joni Manderson from Pindari was so enthusiastic about the service and explained to us how Pindari was able to help so many disadvantaged women and provide crisis accommodation.

"Pindari aims to accommodate women in a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment, to make positive life choices and create hope for the future" Joni said.

Given the ongoing demand for services for homeless women and the lack of beds in Brisbane we were delighted to be able to contribute in some small way to this great program.

Pindari is run by the Salvation Army and at present their funding comes from three main sources including the Viertel Foundation, SAAP funding from the Department of Communities and also from the residents fees paid in the form of rent contributions by the women who stay and use the service.

The centre is located at 28 Quarry St Spring Hill and is open from 6:15am to 11:00pm 7 days per week.  Pindari does not have a waiting list and women in need can simply call the centre to find out more about how to access this support. The Pindari centre in Brisbane can be contacted on (07) 3832 6073.

We were so pleased to be able to help Pindari in this small way and we are told that the staff and residents are now enjoying the newly framed original art work that is on display in the reception area.
